Photophysical properties of furan-bridged dimeric boron-dipyrromethene derivatives (BODIPYs)

In order to investigate the changes in spectroscopic properties of dimeric boron-dipyrromethenes (BODIPYs), four BODIPY derivatives are synthesized, including a monomer which furyl group is substituted at meso position and dimer with furan as bridge. The synthesized characterized through nuclear magnetic resonance mass spectrometry. Photophysical such ultraviolet–visible absorbance fluorescence emission monomers (mT1 mT2) dimers (biT1 biT2) studied eight different solvents. addition, relationship their structural optical also considered density functional theory calculations. covalent link between two units using has profound effect on BODIPYs. We believe that an understanding synthesis physical BODIPYs will have promising perspective designing new predicting characteristics future.
